AID and Attendant Benefit

If you are looking for ways to pay for in home care for you or your love one, this benefit may be the answer!  Are you a Veteran or a surviving spouse of a veteran?  If you are, you can take advantage of a benefit from The Veteran’s Administration called Pension with Aid and Attendant benefit through American Veterans Care Connection.  It is a benefit in which the veteran or surviving spouse can be reimburse for private senior care.  To be eligible you need to be an honorably discharged veteran.  If the veteran is approved for benefits, the veteran or the surviving spouse will receive a monthly check that will pay for the following approved in home care expenses:

  • Companionship
  • Meal Preparation/Feeding
  • Laundry
  • Light housekeeping
  • Grocery Shopping/Errands
  • Transportation
  • Medication Reminders
  • Bathing/Hygiene/Grooming
  • Mobility Assistance-Including transfer assistance and fall prevention
  • Toileting and Incontinence Care

Having this benefit will give you or your love one the opportunity to age in place at home and not be forced to be admitted into a skilled nursing facility.  You will not have to tap into their personal income to pay for in home care services and you will have the peace of mind that your love one will be less likely be admitted into the hospital for falls and other preventive situations.
